The Analog Circuits and Interfaces Theme has the ambitious challenge of connecting massive digital processing capability with real world signals. Researchers in this theme are driving aggressively scaled circuit design across three major areas:
- Explore “Mostly Digital” Analog architectures that exploit digital devices to assist poorly performing analog devices to execute essential analog functions.
- Explore the transmission and detection of signals at limits of the silicon platform— that is, at frequencies well beyond 100GHz.
- Explore novel strategies for testing of these nondigitial designs, at RF and millimeter wave frequencies, by moving diagnosis and test functions on-chip.
