C2S2 Faculty Azita Emami, Ken Mai, Subhasish Mitra and Michael Orshansky Win NSF CAREER Awards
C2S2 faculty members Azita Emami (Caltech), Ken Mai (CMU), Subhasish Mitra (Stanford) and Michael Orshanksy (U. Texas Austin) have won 2007 National Science Foundation (NSF) Early CAREER Awards. The award is bestowed “in support of the early career-development activities of those teacher-scholars who most effectively integrate research and education within the context of the mission of their organization.” Each grant provides around $400,000 in funding for a period of five years. Emami works on high-performance electro-optical interconnections in advanced integrated systems. Mitra works on issues of reliability in advanced digital circuits and systems. Mai works on methods to to improve the performance, efficiency, reliability, and cost of modern digital systems by adding reconfigurability to the memory system. Orshansky works on advanced statistical optimization for scaled digital systems. Emami’s work is part of C2S2’s Analog Circuits and Interfaces Theme; Mitra and Orshanky’s work is part of C2S2’s Silicon Infrastructure Theme; Mai’s work is in C2S2’s Digital Circuits & Systems Theme.
